Tot Gymnastics
Twinkling Tots, our Toddler Gymnastics Program, gives your little one a chance to have fun while discovering new skills like balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, speed, all while learning how to be a part of a class setting.
For over thirty years we have mastered the art of really grabbing the attention of our little ones. Keeping kiddos engaged directly affects their ability to understand and achieve, so we make sure every class is exciting and fun!
Gymnastics is truly one of the best foundational sports in the world. Whether or not your little one has Olympic gymnast dreams, gymnastics is one the best ways to start an athletic life. Our gymnats will learn how to control their body, how to find their balance, how to work their muscles, and they'll do it all while learning the sport we hold so near and dear. The lessons learned in the gym transfer over to literally every other sport that exists!

Flying High classes run year round with no long term commitments. You may enroll at any time and tuition is paid monthly. We do not charge more for “long” months nor less for “short” months. Over the year, all 12 months average 4 weeks. We will pro-rate tuition if starting mid-month.
An Annual Administration fee of $35.00 is due upon initial enrollment of classes and on the anniversary of each students start date (annually; non-refundable).
Not at all! Each of our classes is designed for a specific age group and skill level. When a new student joins a class, they will begin working right away on the skills for the specified level. Each other student in his/her class is working on those exact same skills! Any student who has mastered the skills of a specific level has already moved up to the next level.
Yes! We have viewing rooms available and you are more than welcome to come and watch a class in action! We also have a Café where drinks and snacks can be purchased while you watch class.
Give it time! Remember that for most of our younger athletes, this is their first experience with a structured, school-like environment. Kids learn and adapt at their own pace. Repetition and consistency is key to getting them acclimated!
Flying High bases their class age groups on the developmental stages that occur naturally in child development. Each class has a skill sheet that lists each skill necessary to progress to the next level. All children learn/attain skills at different rates. Once a child is able to complete all skills successfully on the list, they are ready to proceed to the next level, regardless of age.
We highly recommend that our female gymnasts wear a leotard to class. Leotards with skirts can get caught on the equipment; spandex shorts are a better option. In the colder months, girls are more than welcome to wear tight fitting leggings over their leotards. A wide variety of leotards, shorts, and leggings can be found in our Pro Shop!
For our boy gymnasts, a t-shirt and shorts without a zipper are recommended, just not too loose fitting. In the colder months, boys may choose to wear sweat pants or a long sleeve t-shirt. T-shirts and shorts are available in our Pro Shop!
At Flying High, being evaluated for the next level is a HUGE deal! We want to make every child feel like the star they are, so evaluations are done by an instructor who does not teach the child’s class. The evaluator will take the child through the list of required skills on each event, and assess the level of mastery that has been achieved. Evaluations are scheduled when the Instructor feels the athlete is ready to move up to the next level. If a child is ready to move up, they will get to ring the bell at the end of class, while ALL athletes in the gym cheer and clap for them!
If your child needs extra practice, adding a second day of class per week is a great option. Flying High highly recommends attending two classes per week in order to help your child learn and progress more quickly. Coming to class twice a week also helps your child increase their strength and flexibility, as well as their knowledge of gymnastics terminology! Our Add A Day Flex option is perfect for busy families who can’t always commit to attending class 2X per week. You can schedule your second class on a week-by-week basis by calling the week of class to find out if any additional days have openings for your star to attend. It is $15/class if under 60 minutes and $18/class if 60 minutes and over.
We also offer Specialty Classes. Specialty Classes are short, finely tuned classes that focus on certain skills during the allotted class time. Your child’s instructor may recommend a Specialty Class if your athlete only needs one or two skills to move up. Specialty classes are good for bars work, backbends, and flip flops. Flying High also offers clinics during the holidays which focus on specific skills.
Private Lessons are another option! A Private Lesson typically consists of 30 minutes of one on one instruction. At Flying High we offer individual private lessons (one on one) or buddy private lessons (two students with one instructor). Private Lessons can be scheduled by calling the Front Desk. Private Lessons are recommended if your child only needs one or two skills to move up to the next level or if your child is having a difficult time with a certain skill. One on one instruction may help them better understand that skill, as well as give them more practice! Ask about our Private Lesson Punch Cards!
Our tot gymnasts wear the top part of a sock around their “good”, or strong foot. This practice is to help our tots remember which foot should be in front while starting a handstand, a cartwheel, and other tricks. A right-handed child will usually use their right food as their good foot, while a left-handed child will usually use their left foot as their good foot. However, this is not always the case. We get our socks from the white bucket at the beginning of class and put them in the black bucket at the end of the class so they can be washed.
We teach ALL of our gymnasts to do a jump stick when jumping down from any height; down from bars, off the beam onto a mat, off a trapezoid, etc. The jump stick is a safety precaution that continually reminds gymnasts to land safely on their feet. We teach our tots to jump and land with bent knees while counting to three.
At the end of a successful class, your child will receive a stamp on his or her right hand. First, we give stamps in order to reward your child for listening, working hard, and doing his or her best. Second, we place it on the right hand to help our tots distinguish between their right and left hands. Try asking your tot which is their “stamp hand” at home today!
