Our Rising Stars Recreational Program is all about fun, friendship, and flipping into new skills! Designed for girls in 1st grade and up, this program helps gymnasts build strength, flexibility, and confidence while exploring the four main events: vault, bars, beam, and floor—plus trampoline and TumblTrak fun!
Led by encouraging coaches, gymnasts master each level at their own pace—because success isn’t just about trophies, it’s about progress, perseverance, and pride. At Flying High, we cheer for every milestone, big or small!
We also offer a Boys Recreational Gymnastics Program.

Beginner
- 1st Grade & Up

Additional Info
At this level of gymnastics, children are being introduced to each apparatus and all of the equipment in the gym. The very first things they will learn in the gym are proper safety techniques used here in our facility. In addition to safety, participants learn the basics of gymnastics on each event while focusing on getting comfortable on each apparatus. You will see your gymnast walking across the balance beams, climbing over the bars, learning cartwheels, front rolls, and handstands on floor.

Recreational Gymnastics FAQs
Can I enroll right now or do I have to wait until the next month starts?
Flying High classes run all year long—no long-term commitment needed!
Jump in anytime; tuition is paid monthly and stays the same, whether the month is long or short (it all evens out!).
Starting mid-month? No worries—we’ll prorate!
A $35 annual admin fee is due when you enroll and each year after. (Non-refundable, but helps keep the magic going!)
If my son/daughter joins class now, will he/she be behind all the other students?
Will my child be behind if they start now?
Not at all! Our classes are grouped by age and skill, so everyone’s working on the same fun stuff.
New students jump right in, and those who’ve already mastered the skills have moved on up—so your child will fit right in and shine in no time!
Can Parents/Family stay to watch a class?
Yes! We have viewing rooms available and you are more than welcome to come and watch a class in action! We also have a Café where drinks and snacks can be purchased while you watch class.
Why are children placed by age but move up by skill?
Why are classes grouped by age but level-ups based on skill?
At Flying High, we group by age to match natural stages of child development—but every kiddo grows at their own pace!
Each class has a skill checklist, and once your child masters all the moves, they’re ready to level up—no matter their age.
It’s all about confidence, progress, and celebrating each child’s unique journey!
What are the uniform requirements?
What should my child wear to class?
We recommend leotards for girls—without skirts (they like to get caught on things!). Spandex shorts and snug leggings in chilly months work great too.
Boys should wear a comfy t-shirt and shorts (no zippers or baggy fits, please!). Sweatpants and long sleeves are perfect for cooler days.
What is the evaluation process?
What’s the evaluation process like?
At Flying High, evaluations are a big celebration! 🎉
When a coach feels your child is ready, a fresh set of eyes (an evaluator from outside their class) will guide them through their skill list to see how far they’ve come.
If it’s time to level up, they’ll ring the bell loud and proud—while the whole gym cheers them on like the superstar they are!
Have questions about your athlete’s progress? You can always ask the teacher or email the director at Natalie.L@flyinghighgym.com.
How often should my child come to class? Once or twice a week?
How many times a week should my child attend class?
That’s up to you—but we highly recommend coming twice a week!
It helps your child grow stronger, stretch farther, learn faster, and master all that fun gymnastics lingo.
More time in the gym = more progress, more confidence, and more fun!
What are my options if my child needs extra practice?
