Boys Recreational Gymnastics

Flying High’s Boys Gymnastics Program is perfect for energetic boys who dream of competing one day—or just need a fun way to burn off some serious steam! Designed for boys in 1st grade and up, this program welcomes everyone from recent Big Dippers grads to future team stars in training.

In class, boys build strong foundations on the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar—all while boosting their strength, coordination, and confidence. With an emphasis on conditioning, skill-building, and setting goals, our coaches help each gymnast grow with a mix of discipline and high-energy fun.

Class Descriptions

Rock Stars 1

Welcome to the world of flips, strength, and fun—just for boys!
In this class, boys will start learning the basics on every event, from handstands and cartwheels on floor to straddle laps on the bars and proper vault technique.
We’ll focus on building strong bodies, sharp minds, and confident movers.
Once they’re comfortable on all apparatus, showing strength, focus, and independence, they’ll be ready to rock their way up to Rock Stars 2!

Rock Stars 2

Rock Stars 2—where strong skills meet even stronger muscles!
In this class, boys build on everything they mastered in Rock Stars 1. While they continue to polish the basics, they’ll also take on new skills and exciting challenges.
With more advanced sequences comes more strength and stamina, so get ready for some serious conditioning fun!
It’s all about leveling up and rocking it out!

Intermediate Boys

This class is for boys who’ve rocked their way through Rock Stars 2 and are ready for the next big leap!
Here, gymnasts build on what they’ve already mastered—tackling tougher skills that pave the way toward the competitive path.
Once they’ve perfected everything at the Intermediate level, they may continue their journey in our Advanced Boys Class or be invited to join Pre-Team and train for the Boys Competitive Gymnastics Team.
It’s the launchpad for strong, skilled, and soaring athletes!

Boys advanced gymnastics

Big skills, no pressure!
This class is perfect for boys who’ve mastered the Intermediate level and want to keep flying high—without committing to the competitive team.
In Advanced Gymnastics, they’ll build strength, learn impressive new skills, and tackle challenging sequences—all without routines or competitions.
It’s all about powerful gymnastics, personal progress, and having a blast along the way!

Teen Rec Gymnastics

It’s never too late to flip into fun!
This class is designed for gymnasts in 6th grade and up who want to build or rediscover their gymnastics basics.
Whether you’re brand new or making a comeback, you’ll work on fundamental skills across all events—one confident cartwheel at a time!

Recreational Gymnastics FAQs

Flying High classes run all year long—no long-term commitment needed!
Jump in anytime; tuition is paid monthly and stays the same, whether the month is long or short (it all evens out!).
Starting mid-month? No worries—we’ll prorate!
A $35 annual admin fee is due when you enroll and each year after. (Non-refundable, but helps keep the magic going!)

Will my child be behind if they start now?
Not at all! Our classes are grouped by age and skill, so everyone’s working on the same fun stuff.
New students jump right in, and those who’ve already mastered the skills have moved on up—so your child will fit right in and shine in no time!

Yes! We have viewing rooms available and you are more than welcome to come and watch a class in action! We also have a Café where drinks and snacks can be purchased while you watch class.

Why are classes grouped by age but level-ups based on skill?
At Flying High, we group by age to match natural stages of child development—but every kiddo grows at their own pace!
Each class has a skill checklist, and once your child masters all the moves, they’re ready to level up—no matter their age.
It’s all about confidence, progress, and celebrating each child’s unique journey!

What should my child wear to class?
We recommend leotards for girls—without skirts (they like to get caught on things!). Spandex shorts and snug leggings in chilly months work great too.
Boys should wear a comfy t-shirt and shorts (no zippers or baggy fits, please!). Sweatpants and long sleeves are perfect for cooler days.

What’s the evaluation process like?
At Flying High, evaluations are a big celebration! 🎉
When a coach feels your child is ready, a fresh set of eyes (an evaluator from outside their class) will guide them through their skill list to see how far they’ve come.
If it’s time to level up, they’ll ring the bell loud and proud—while the whole gym cheers them on like the superstar they are!
Have questions about your athlete’s progress?  You can always ask the teacher or email the director at Natalie.L@flyinghighgym.com.

How many times a week should my child attend class?
That’s up to you—but we highly recommend coming twice a week!
It helps your child grow stronger, stretch farther, learn faster, and master all that fun gymnastics lingo.
More time in the gym = more progress, more confidence, and more fun!

What if my child needs a little extra practice?
We’ve got plenty of ways to boost their skills and confidence! 🌟
✨ Add a second class each week —more time = more progress!
✨ Try a Specialty Class for focused work on skills like bars, backbends, or flip flops—great for fine-tuning!
✨ Need personalized support? Book a Private Lesson (solo or buddy-style!) for one-on-one attention and faster growth.
We even offer holiday Clinics for skill-boosting fun. Just ask the Front Desk—we’ll help you find the perfect fit!
